This past weekend, we celebrated one year of Kitchens for Good’s “The Market”—and the entrepreneurs who have made it what it is.
Our anniversary Market brought together food entrepreneurs from Kitchens for Good’s Microenterprise Program, community members, longtime supporters, and plenty of hungry shoppers for a day celebrating local food and small businesses.
For the entrepreneurs, it was another opportunity to do what they’ve been doing at The Market all year: share their food, connect directly with customers, test their products, and gain real-world experience growing their businesses.

The celebration also caught the attention of NBC 7, who joined us for the anniversary and spoke with several entrepreneurs about what it takes to build a food business in today’s economy—and how Kitchens for Good is helping them navigate the challenges along the way.

Over the past year, we’ve watched entrepreneurs use The Market to test new products or business strategies, gain confidence in their brand, and build a customer base. Celebrating The Market’s first birthday gave us a chance to recognize just how much has happened since that very first event, including getting all 26 businesses health permits, business licenses, and seller’s permits to become legally operating in San Diego County.
Most importantly, we got to celebrate alongside the community that makes these opportunities possible. Every purchase gives an emerging entrepreneur another chance to get their product in front of customers—which allows them to keep growing their businesses and to achieve their goals.
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us—and to everyone who has supported The Market over the past year. We can’t wait to see what year two brings.
And a special thank you to NBC 7 for spending the day with us and helping share the stories of KFG entrepreneurs with a wider San Diego audience.
Watch the NBC 7 story and meet some of the entrepreneurs building their businesses through Kitchens for Good.
